All classes are on musicality and creativity. Movements are secondary which means you will use movements according to your skill level and adapt them to the music that you hear. The more skill you have, the more challenges will be presented to you.

Classes are deceptively simple, and Advanced dancers will be just as challenged as Beginners and Intermediates.

Friday May 14

7 – 8 pm

INTRODUCTION TO MILONGA RHYTHMS  (ALL LEVELS CLASS) $15

Mastering the four basic rhythms in milonga.

8 – 10 pm

PRACTICA, MENDOCINO-ARGENTINE BARBECUE $15

($25 both class & practica/barbecue; $20 with potluck contribution)

Saturday  May 15

2 – 3:30 pm

THE HABANERA RHYTHM IN MILONGA (ALL LEVELS WORKSHOP) $20

Dissecting the Habanera and exposing four more fun rhythms.

4 - 6 pm

RHYTHMIC IMPROVISATION & MUSICALITY (ALL LEVELS WORKSHOP) $20

($35 both Saturday workshops)

Creating your own figures using basic rhythms, plus analyzing the basic musical structure of a song.

7 - 8 pm

MILONGA BASICS (ALL LEVELS CLASS) $15

Milonga Pret-a-porter moves.

8 - 11 pm

MILONGA MELODY & RHYTHM  Part 1 (ALL LEVELS* WORKSHOP) $20

Mapping the music then creating your dance according to what you hear.

2 - 4 pm

MILONGA MELODY & RHYTHM Part 2 (ALL LEVELS* WORKSHOP) $20

($35 both Sunday Workshops)

Musical phrasing and playing with two rhythms at once.

*Super Beginners can attend to learn musicality but not necessarily new figures

All levels welcome to attend all classes; beginners will have special practice area, and are cordially invited to observe more advanced segments.

“All levels’ (6 months +) with a caveat to super beginners, meaning anyone who can walk to the cross, do ocho cortado, and do ochos and molinetes decently can survive my classes. First-timers should attend the pre-milonga class.”
