WHI-Yoga:

Ahu Smith now offers Kundalini Yoga classes at the Weller House Inn every Wednesday at 6pm, conveniently prior to the regular Wednesday evening practica of Argentine tango at the WHI.  Practicing Kundalini yoga improves your dancing!

Ahu has practiced different styles of yoga and dance for the past 3 decades, and is a certified Kundalini Yoga Instructor.  She finds that combining Kundalini Yoga practice and dance hones focus and intuition for dancing, and also gives more physical strength and stamina. 

Kundalini Yoga is a lively rhythmic practice involving breath, movement, mantra, and meditation.  The rhythm of conscious breath with movement strengthens connection with oneself, and ultimately with a dance partner. 

The central focus of Kundalini Yoga, strengthening the pelvic floor and connecting through the spine to the brow point or pituitary gland, builds core strength and energy flow essential for tango.  The exercises involve stretching and warm-ups that are wonderful for tango bodies, and mental focus that helps take us where we want to go as dancers.
